Am I supposed to talk during my massage? What if my massage therapist won’t stop talking?
First of all, remember that this massage is for you. Do what feels comfortable. For some people, talking relieves the stress that is stored in their tissues. If that’s you — then go ahead and talk! But if you prefer to escape to your happy place while you’re getting a massage, then do that. We want you to relax and feel refreshed by the end of your session.
Most therapists don’t initiate conversation aside from asking follow-up questions, or checking in to see if the pressure is ok and that you’re comfortable. If you do come across a chatty therapist when you would prefer silence, just say you don’t want to talk during the session. They’ll understand.
